Introduction
The organisation was founded in 1989, its area of operation is Szeged and the surrounding settlements. Our aim is to help and represent the interest of families that have three or more children. Currently we have 300 member families, which means that we are in contact with almost 1500 people. Most of our member families live in Szeged, but about one-third of them live in the surrounding villages.
According to the decision of the Csongrád County Court we operate as a public benefit organisation: Our task is to improve the possibilities of those, who are at a disadvantage. The number of the resolution is: Pk 60.232/1989/15 (Date: 26.08.1999.)
We carry out activities in three major areas:
- I. Collecting donations (food and clothes) and giving them to those in need. In co-operation with other charity organisations and the local government we regularly help the needy. We have built relationships with supermarkets and companies that produce food, so they can help us carrying out this task.
- II. Improving the quality of life of big families: We try to find and organize such possibilities that are most of the times out of the reach of these families due to financial reasons. Such activities include: discount seasonal ticket to the swimming pool for the family; free of charge tickets to theatre dress rehearsals; free computer courses and discount language courses for our members; and we regularly organize journeys throughout the country. We have summer camps for families and for children as well every year.
- III. Organizing programs: Almost all of our members think that, the upbringing of our children is primarily our task as long as we have the strength. Due to our special situation we have to face much more problems than the average. We often meet the misunderstanding of the society and the rejection of our problems. We believe, that by presenting our lifestyle and happiness, we can do a lot to change the climate of opinion surrounding us. So for this reason, and for presenting the happy side of the life in a big family, we regularly celebrate Children's Day and Christmas together. Our programs are exceptionally popular, because we combine celebration with family activities (for example ornament making, competitions) where the whole family works together.
